You must present a valid form of photo identification, such as a driver's license or a passport, in order to be issued a new or replacement Rutgers-Newark ID Card. Rutgers University benefit employees (Type 1) are not eligible to receive a student ID card All Rutgers-Newark ID cards are not mailed and must be picked up at the Photo ID window on the third floor of Blumenthal Hall. |

| First Year, Transfer Students, and other new students |
Your Rutgers-Newark Photo ID Card enables you to check out library books, use recreation centers on all three Rutgers campuses, and access meal plans. It also functions as a general campus ID. In order to receive the ID card, you must have made arrangements to pay your term bill and must present a valid form of photo identification (e.g., driver's license, passport). Cards are issued beginning one week prior to the start of the Fall semester, or the first business day after January 1st for the Spring semester. There is no charge for an ID Card issued for the first time. |

Continuing Undergraduate Students Expired or Change of Program |
You must surrender your old ID card to be issued an updated Rutgers-Newark Photo ID Card. You will also need to present another form of identification such as a photo driver's license or a passport. There is no fee to exchange an expired ID card for a new one. |

| Graduate Students |
New graduate students: If you are registered for classes, you may visit the Photo ID Office to obtain your Rutgers-Newark Photo ID card. There is no charge for your initial ID card. No appointment is necessary. Continuing graduate students: Exchange your expired ID card for a new one at the Photo ID Office. Teaching/Graduate Assistants: You are only eligible for a regular student card. You must surrender your old ID card to be issued an updated Rutgers-Newark Photo ID card. You will also need to present another form of identification such as a photo driver's license or passport. There is no charge to exchange an expired ID card for a new one. |

| Summer Session (only) Students |
If you are registered for Summer classes, you may visit the Photo ID Office to obtain your ID card. There is a $5 fee for your Summer Session ID card. No appointment is necessary. Summer Session ID cards are issued after May commencement. |
